My name is Lexi and I am a junior in high school. The specifics about me aren't necessarily important; my mission is what is important. Being an Ambassador in Girl Scouts means having the decision whether or not to do the Gold Award project. For those who don't know what the Gold Award is, it is a service project which requires at least 80 hours of dedication to this project. With the incredible amount of time dedication, we were asked to choose an issue that has a significant meaning in our lives and that can bring a long-lasting change. It is a lot of pressure on a seventeen-year-old to make a long-lasting change in the world when we haven't even begun to start to experience it. I hope to share my journey and hopefully create a connection to create a learning experience for everyone, myself included.

When creating "Sustainable Existing," I dreamt big and hoped to create a project that could reach anyone, anywhere. I wanted to create and share my story and knowledge as well as build a long-lasting community that would be able to teach me as well.  We all live on this planet and we need to pay more attention to taking care of it. I will admit I don't always think twice about my choices, but this is why I am starting my journey and sharing it. I hope to show that even at seventeen, having a busy life of high school, sports, band practices and concerts, a social life, and a job, that it is possible to make more sustainable life choices. It may not be the easiest or the most convenient, but it certainly is possible

While listening to one of the podcast episodes or reading one of the blog posts, reflect on the information. Is it something that you are doing or possibly can start doing? Do you have something you know about that is similar and want to share it with me? Although I am the one starting this project, I want all of your voices to be heard too. I am open to any suggestions you have of your own and I hope for all of you to be open to my suggestions as well. A lot of research is going into this and will be put into this and this is no easy task. This is a learning experience for me as well as you so bear with me through the ups and downs that this project may endure along the way. With your help, we can all make the world a cleaner and more sustainable place.
